Ideas for a change

After last Sunday's meeting at St. Georges Hall and discussing what, where and how the participants (still a overwhelming majority of women! 2 men in 11 participants...) would like to change in the urban landscape of Liverpool, I started to write a little project about an area near where I live. There might be people from that community that share my ideas or at least seome of them. Here it is:

I am sitting looking out on a wonderful sunny day no wind just right for planting the garlic, seeding potatoes and broad beans

there is a lttle strip of grass down the road not too many cars go by,

am I the first to have a go? how do I make sure the maintenance people don't mow it?

is it better to tell someone?

I have a couple of potatoes sprouting in the cupboard,

Its nearly 10 I am going now to plant them and I'm taking the garlic as well!

keep me company, lets start sproutin.

Settled down

People have settle in! Good news! They start to think about how move on from where they have located themselves on the map. A cleaner city is an issue. More bin men are demanded to work in the city. Other people brandish the cleanliness of Singapore as an example to follow: if Singapore can do it, we should be able to do it also. However, and well spotted, one must start first to change oneself to convince others: “You should not drop it (rubbish) in the first place!” Civic ...

Between the future and the past: a settlement

People like to find out about their past. Maps are a marvellous tool for time travel. The present is displayed on the table and everybody locates its own whereabouts easily. The surprise lies in the changes that each person acknowledges: “This was all open land from Wavertree to Childwall. I remember that as a child I walked through fields and open space to Childwall and then came back. How amazing that it is all built on today!”

Current definitions of land are designed to make it possible to sell land. Land has other uses which are not visualised by these definitions.

Size does not mean wealth. Most of ...
